Perceiving the Landscape Group Presentation...
Communication: being able to express your opinion through: pictures, charts, speaking and debating, or a mixture of these things. Its also being able to talk to others and staying in tune with evolution of the world and technology, having the ability to think of something and expressing it.
Above, is a screenshot of a presentation I put together for a group project where we had to go to the Portland Art Museum with our group to observe the work and chose an art work and determine what the artist is saying about the landscape and the human interaction with it. The challenge my group had was agreeing on the painting, we are all different with our own strong opinions, so it was difficult for us to agree on a painting. Fortunately, we came up with a solution and chose to analyze and compare this painting to an actual photograph that seemed to be a modern version with the same placement and possibly concept of expansion and evolution.
I chose this project to be my example of communication because communication was an important aspect in completing this project. we used communication when deciding what painting we wanted because we voiced our opinions when we didn't like something. Communication was also needed in figuring out the transitions from one persons slides to the next. Communication was very important in making sure I got everybody's information to make this PowerPoint. Visual and oral presentation was an essential part presenting our analysis of this painting to the class. we used multiple strategies in our presentation, we used: diagrams pictures, key words, arrows, and further in depth explanations.

2014
I enjoyed this project because I was able to get my voice heard and hopefully ensure some change. For this assignment I wrote a letter of action to housing on campus that dealt with the use of the elevators and stairwell. I live in a building on campus and in order to get from the lobby to rooms, elevators are necessary because the stairwell cases aren't really allowed to be used. This rule came about after an incident with a homeless man, so the restriction on using the elevators is a safety issue. I get that its for safety but there are steps they can do to ensure safety and the benefit of using the stairwell. the stairwell is something us resident would appreciate because the elevators take along time and sometimes when it finally reaches your floor to go to the lobby or vice versa, the elevator id full so you have to wait even more which often contributes to the students being late to class or work. So in the letter i provided a few great solutions that can solve the safety issue. This assignment circled all around communication. Letting your voice be heard is all about communication and it made me realize if you love to complain, there's always a way to complain about something you feel is important in a professional way. i will be using this method of writing a letter in order to get my point across and heard. This assignment also touches the social responsibility page. i felt as a residence in a living community, i had the responsibility to speak for all of my fellow neighbors and hopefully i haven't been the only one to complain, hopefully there has been an on going complaint and I'm glad i was able to contribute to the fight.
This group presentation was a second part to our group research project. Basically it was our research paper condensed. there were four areas covered, i covered tourism. Before the research i really had no idea what i was researching about, i then realized what i was researching was important and an actual issue that not many people know about. I'm glad the word was able to be spread through our presentation which is why i put this under the communication category. Researching this topic of the Okavango Delta in Botswana helped me gain knowledge on the outside world and see that issues we may see as minor because we have an abundance or just don't appreciate it might be super important and necessary to others. From this assignment I took out that communication is important when it comes to social issues and when wanting to get the word out about something. Also, people might not be doing anything about issues because they just simply do not know anything about the issues so communication can change that.
